Smile inducing Comic Relief event in Llanddewi Brefi, allegedly the location where St David did his famous rising mountain speech in the 6th Century. Maybe they could all be pressed into action to find the infamous missing signs from the real village.
I thought I'd share a quick snap from last week that I ain't had a chance to post due to my illness (mercifully improving) and being engaged elsewhere. I met Mr. Chicky for lunch last Tuesday and we ended up in the Black Lion in Llandaff - obviously Brains' web peeps are spending to long on the wonderful Brains Dark - that there image of the pub is 586k! Send me a case of Dark and I'll teach you how to save-for-web ;)
I've never been there before, nice pub and top grub - can't comment on the beer as I refuse to drink during the day unless I know its going to take me through to the night.
Anyhow, come the end of lunch the place was empty and a lovely shaft of light lit the air, highlighting the wafts of stale smoke floating around the place. It looked lovely, but never came out on the snaps, this was the best of them. If you are looking for a good portion at a reasonable price, then give the Black Lion a go.
So, what else is going on? Not a lot, spent last night filling in scratching my head as I filled in some American tax forms as required for the advertising on Cheesy-Movies.com and finished the night with another review, this time for the wonderfully cheesy Sorceress [1982] and tonight its been housework till now, and if I can get me arse in gear I'll do another one. However, the relief of not having to fill in anymore complicated forms may just see me veg for an hour. My American friends have my sympathies.
I had a chance t'other night to write up some reviews for the aforementioned cheesy movies site as well as a music one for the new British Sea Power LP, Open Season (due out early April.) If anyone's interested they're here:
Ok, been a long break between posts. Let me fill you in on the general state of play. Three things have kept me from posting. Firstly - I've been flat out at work and. Secondly, I've been flat out at home. Finally - I've been flaming ill for the best part of two weeks with a stubborn and persistent cold - which stems from the one Elis had over Xmas, and Mrs Dio had a few weeks ago. For the best part of a week and a bit I had a niggling sore throat, when that finally wore me down and gave me the full on cold and cough and achy joints in the middle of this week. I still feel like shit and now feel like I'm also developing a cough. Gah.
So, as for work, I've been flat out covering both my normal work and colleague's work, who's on extended holiday in New Zealand. This has meant I've been sorting out lots of stuff to do with the scheduling and promos on the new look BBC Wales homepage. Its had a (long overdue) overhaul and switched to a whole new method of production that I'm still in the process of getting to grips with - so that's kept me busy in work.
On the home front, I've been busying my pants off on my new site Cheesy-Movies.com - a site dedicated to some ancient VHS films not yet available on DVD, with a high quota of 80s horror in there. I'm slowly working my way through the ones in my collection I've digitised and writing reviews of them. Expect some links to those reviews shortly.
Time has flown. I feel like shit. Not much else to say really. Hopefully back on form shortly.
Well to be fair, we have been shit for years. Pinched from ScumV
You'll be sick of this link before the day's out... Welsh rugby fan cuts off testicles after side wins
Firstly, hooray - Wales beat England for the first time in years in the Six Nations, shame the match was so flaming boring I ended up not really giving a shit and will spend no more time mentioning it as I know we will not see the end of it for the next decade (how many times have we seen the winning Scott Gibbs try from the last victory since?)
I do love match days though, ten minutes before kick-off the streets empty and a calm quiet descends on the streets of Wales. I had to get some stuff so I took the opportunity to snap the sunset as I rushed to the shop to get back in time for the match. Some nice colours to see, but little else really.
And last weekend we took a trip to Aberdare in the search for a new house and lifestyle (we failed to find it) - didn't have time to take any photos but got back to Cardiff and took these delightful ripples above Tewkesbury Street in Cathays.
I love the streets in Cathays, so much so this very street inspired the Barrow Boy short story. They are long and very much on top of each other the streets - I should get more snaps down there sometime.
Oh yes, and did I mention we beat England in the rugby?
I've finally updated me old and bloated web search page and spilt it down to make a little mini-site of all those filthy, disgusting and downright disturbing search terms you used to get here. Dio's Dirty Search Logs [DEAD SITE].
It's starting to look like a clip blog around here recently, apologies for lack of arse to both write and take snaps. This made me laugh - managing to poke fun at both Mac And Windows fans. Mac Mini: The Emperor's New Computer
